Dual Enrollment

What Is Dual Enrollment?

Dual enrollment means that a high school student attends a college class at the high school campus. 

  • Dual enrollment allows students to earn ‘dual credit’. ‘Dual credit’ refers to students who earn academic credits at two institutions -- their high school and a college or university that participates in dual enrollment programs.

Why Should I Consider Dual Enrollment?

There are several reasons why high school students should work with their parents and school to participate in dual enrollment programs. These benefits include:

  • Experiencing college courses with the support of high school teachers.
  • Accelerate college completion, which may reduce total student debt for college graduates.
  • Save money on tuition costs, which may reduce total student debt for college graduates.
  • The dual enrollment classes high school students take may transfer to higher education institutions, depending upon the school

 

Where Is Dual Enrollment Offered?

Currently Escondido High School and Orange Glen High School are offering dual enrollment.  Please see your counselor for more information.

 

What Classes Are Offered?

For the 2022-23 school year the following classes may be offered:

 

Chicano Studies 101 - The Chicano in the United States

An historical survey of the Mexican American/Chicano people in the United States. Emphasis on cultural and historical roots from pre-Columbian times through the Spanish conquest period and subsequent cultural and racial mix, including the U.S. American culture in the Southwest.

 

Chicano Studies 102 - The Chicano and the American Political System

A basic and practical approach to understanding and utilizing the American political system. Includes a critical evaluation of leading issues affecting Chicanos as well as a survey of social and political organizations within the community. A description and analysis of Federal, State, and local government. This course plus CS 101 meets the State requirement in American History and Institutions.
