Mr. Santos joins the district as an experienced administrator, serving as high school assistant principal in the San Dieguito Union High School District since 2014. Most recently, highlights of his experience include building student-centered environments, strengthening AVID programs, overseeing Advanced Placement, curriculum development, coordinating services for students with disabilities, and the support program for new teachers. Prior to becoming an administrator, Santos taught Biology, AP Biology, and AVID for a decade. A San Diego native and Morse High School graduate, he is the son of two immigrant parents and understands the obstacles students face in pursuing higher education. He was awarded San Dieguito High School Academy Teacher of the Year in 2009 and the Ernest C. Mort Leadership Excellence Award in 1999 and 2001. Mr. Santos holds a masters’ degree in Education from California State University, San Marcos and a bachelor’s degree in psychology and science from the University of California, San Diego.
