As part of the Gilder Lehrman Grant & Hamilton Education Program, all interested students had to complete an original performance project based on primary source documents and the Hamilton curriculum in order to get tickets to attend the student Hamilton Matinee on March 26. Orange Glen had 49 performance project submissions! After videoing their projects last Tuesday, Kailey Sanchez was selected as our best overall project submission. This morning we learned that Kailey Sanchez has been selected by the Hamilton Education Program. Kailey will perform her spoken word project on stage at the Pantages Theater in front of all the other schools in a student show case! Please join us in congratulating Kailey!

Olga Diaz, Escondido's city councilman/interim dean at Palomar, gave our students tickets to see the Black Violin concert at the Escondido Center for the Arts. They had a wonderful experience attending a hip hop symphony!!!

Our fan section, The Patriot Pit, is a finalist in CIF/KUSI's Battle of the Fans competition. They battle against other schools for the title of best fans. They promote all sports, display sportsmanship, and are creative with their theme nights and chants. Please head to the link and LIKE THE VIDEO FOR YOUR VOTE. Our Future Lawyers prosecuted their case on Saturday morning at the Superior Court in San Diego. Mrs. Copeland coached them to be strong, professional, and unflappable in front of an actual judge, in a real courtroom, facing a worthy opponent. They have amazing poise and depth of knowledge regarding the facts of their case and the statues they used to support their well-crafted arguments. In additional, the moral support they gave one another was amazing and could be witnessed throughout the Mock Trial.

Construction work is anticipated to start on approximately February 18, 2020 along Midway Drive, from Lincoln Avenue, south to Bear Valley Parkway, ending just south of Hwy 78/San Pasqual Valley Road. The work on those streets will take place between 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (restricted work hours may take place in certain areas based on City permit requirements). Total project completion expected in October 2020.

On February 19th, there will be a Palomar College Application Workshop for SENIORS ONLY! The workshop will take place from 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Palomar staff will be helping out during this event. The Escondido Union High School District values input from various stakeholders and uses this feedback throughout the development of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). The LCAP is a plan that describes the district's overall vision for student success and includes investment actions aimed at improving student outcomes. The ELPAC is the first step in the reclassifying process and allows you to earn the CA State Seal of Biliteracy. The dates are February 8th & 22nd from 8am-12pm.
